An Afternoon of Basketball

A great way to spend a Saturday afternoon...a basketball game. Matt, Jenn & Ella headed to Mizzou for the MU/Oklahoma State game. Ella really enjoyed it and cheered for both teams as she loves Truman Tiger but we got the free tickets from the coach of OK State. We all wore neutral colors!! :) Ella was cool with wearing pink! :) A nice older woman sat by us during the game and Ella chatted her up. Surprised? I'm not in the least! We even got exercise walking up the BIG hill to the gym! It was enough to just walk up it but Matt had Ella on his shoulders! Oh what Daddies do for their daughters!!! :)

Happy Birthday Daddy!!!

Daddy had a milestone birthday this year! 35!!! He had a nice day at the Mizzou/Nebraska game with his dad and a few of his dad's friends. They got awesome seats in the row behind Nebraska's bench thanks to Matt's awesome friend Anware who coaches for Nebraska. Ella started squealing when we saw Daddy & Papa on tv!! :)
Before the game the boys had lunch at Hooters and when they got home from their fun day, they got homemade cupcakes with Daddy blowing out trick candles! Ella was a great helper and especially liked using the mixer which Mommy felt she was finally mature enough to use.
They were delicious...and they did in my diet!!! :(...but at least I enjoyed putting on the weight!!
Happy Birthday Matt...we love you!

Everyone does it...right?

So...I did it. Matt did it. About 98% of the people I've talked to have done it. So why was I shocked when Ella did it?
Because she is usually so responsible and I've never had to worry about the stuff that other kids do like writing on walls and breaking things. So, here's the story...
Ella was hanging out in her room and was playing dress up. She was wearing her Snow White costume from last Halloween (how she got into it is another wonder...too small!!). We decided to run to the grocery store so I told her she needed to have regular clothes on and that I would put her hair in a "pony". I ran the brush through her hair and CHUNKS of hair started falling out. I freaked! Matt freaked! Then it hit us...she cut it. I asked and she lied..."No, I didn't" then I reminded her of what I think of liars....an immediate "yes, I did. I'm sorry." So I immediately started making calls for an appointment to cut it right.
I got her in and we had to go with a chin-length bob. I like the cut but not what it took to get there! I showed her just how short it would have to be and she picked the girl she wanted her hair to look like. She told the stylist "I want my hair to be like this but not with yellow hair...I'll keep mine brown"!!! I guess I need to be watching the hair color next! When the stylist was done she smiled real big and said "I do look like Snow White now!!" and the truth came out!! She cut it to look like Snow White! Well, wish granted!! There is an indention in the back if you look close where she cut it super short but otherwise it is super cute!
What a way to spend a long weekend (Martin Luther King Jr day)? Lots hope we have a less eventful President's Day long weekend! LOL!!
Hope you all have a great week! Happy Birthday wishes out to Daddy! We love you!!
And...here is the new Ella...

Christmas 2009

Christmas 2009 wasn't completely a joyous occasion as we all had Mima Skillz on our minds. She passed earlier that week so it was hard to laugh and have fun...but...we tried for Ella's sake. We went to Midnight Mass and got in bed about 1:30 or 2 am so it wasn't the usual kid running to the tree before the sun rises. We had to wake her up at 9 am! But then there was no stopping her. She was very excited about Santa's visit! Santa brought her an easel (which I have pics of on my camera but then it started acting up so I switched to Amanda's and she emailed them to me). Papa really went overboard getting her a beautiful Barbie dream townhouse (coming soon from my camera) that makes my childhood barbie house look "ghetto". He shocked us all and also got her the Wii she wanted. She was over the moon and everything else was just extra! She also asked Santa for acting lessons that are offered locally and Bisa & Biso delivered. She will be starting later this month!
We spent Christmas Eve and morning with Matt's family and then headed back home to spend time with my family who was waiting patiently at our house. We had a nice visit with them before the dreaded days of visitation and funeral.
We have had days filled with playing barbies and playing Wii which Ella is very good at. She beats everyone at bowling and is super-competitive! Luckily we have a 4 day weekend (SNOW DAYS) to practice! We have had lots of fun times already with the Wii so Ella got what she wanted..."A wii to have fun with my family". Thanks Papa!
The weather stinks but at least we have snow days..bad thing is that it is SO cold and windy we haven't gone out & played. Maybe it will get better so we can.
May you be warmer than us...or able to get out and enjoy your snow day!!
